Admission Policies
Children are eligible for enrollment at Little City Kids if they are between the ages of six weeks and thirteen years, provided programming and enrollment space exists. We are licensed for only 52 children. The parents must submit all enrollment forms prior to the child's attendance at Little City Kids. The center will enroll only those children who are at a stage of growth and development that enables them to benefit from the care and educational program. Little City Kids will not provide service to any child whose needs cannot be met or whose behavior endangers other children. Admission to Little City Kids is at the school's sole discretion, and the school has the right to withdraw students at its discretion.
An orientation meeting is scheduled with each child's parents or guardians upon enrollment. At that time, the parent will have the opportunity to confer with their child's teacher regarding the developmental and physical needs of their child. The teacher will share classroom information on the early childhood education program and develop communication with the parent.
If enrollment space is unavailable, a child may be placed on a waiting list upon receipt of a completed enrollment form, signed parent agreement form, and annual registration fee and holding fee. Enrollment will take place as space exists in the following priority:
- Students with family members enrolled in the program.
- Placement on the waiting list.
Families will be contacted when space exists for actual enrollment.
Requirements for Enrollment
When you enroll your child there is some necessary paperwork to be filled out. Examples of these are: medical forms (including verification of immunizations), medical release forms, registration forms, and so forth. All of this paperwork is made available to you upon registration, and should be completed and promptly returned. You will also receive a copy of this handbook, and a fee schedule. After you have had a chance to read through these materials, you should meet with our director to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. Parents are asked to sign a written agreement as to fees, the child's hours, and so forth.
The best time to visit Little City Kids, LLC, is either during regular preschool hours (9:00 to 11:00 am) or during Kids Clubs! (4:00 to 5:00 pm). This way your child gets to see what happens at the center and gives her a chance to meet the other children and staff. This visit is a good time to bring any items you wish to leave here (e.g., extra clothing and sleeping bag). If you or your child is very uneasy about school, two visits are recommended: the first during off hours when your child will not be overwhelmed by the other children and the noise, and will have all the toys available to herself. During this time we will be able to give your child undivided attention. The second visit could be during the recommended visiting hours. We can also give you some ideas on what you can do to make the transition as easy as possible for you and for your child.
Admission Forms
Parents are responsible for completing all enrollment forms prior to the child's attendance at Little City Kids. Once these forms have been completed and the $50.00 annual registration fee paid for each child, the child or children are considered enrolled.
Occasionally the children are involved in enrichment trips away from Little City Kids. Prior to each event, a notice and permission form are placed in your child's cubby informing you of an upcoming trip. Notices are posted on center bulletin boards. These trips usually incur and extra fee, which are due with the permission slip that is required for each trip.
Occasionally, photographers from various organizations (i.e., The Journal Times) will ask to photograph the classroom or students involved in classroom activities. We request that you fill out a Photo Consent Form with your application package.
Following enrollment, the parent is responsible for informing Little City Kids immediately should any changes occur affecting the care of the child (i.e., physical needs, emotional needs, or general or emergency information).
